LAGOS – A FEDERAL High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, ordered the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, to provide the information sought by Mr. Olasupo Ojo, of Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR, pursuant to provisions of the Freedom of Information Act.
Trial judge is Justice Binta Nyako. The court ordered the EFCC to disclose to or make available to Ojo, the information requested by him in his Solicitor’s letter to it dated June 7, 2011 in Suit No: FHC/L/CS/ 784/2011.
Ojo in the suit had prayed the court for an order of mandamus, compelling the EFCC to disclose the source of information that he (Ojo) and the leadership of the CDHR received N52million and compromised themselves in order to smear the EFCC.
The court adjourned till August 1, 2011 for the hearing of the substantive suit.
