Meanwhile, Mrs Imo Isemin, wife of the first civilian Governor of Akwa Ibom State, abducted by unknown gunmen in Uyo, Sunday, has been set free. She is, however, yet to join her family after her rescue by the police.
Mrs. Isemin, 76, was abducted on her way to church, at the Victorious Army Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church, off Ikpa Road, opposite Cornelia Cornelly College.
The hoodlums had reportedly fired several shots to scare away passersby and took her away in her black SUV. Her driver was thrown out of the vehicle which was later abandoned in Itu Local Government Area, while the kidnappers escaped with her.
The widow of the former Governor was later rescued by a team of Policemen in Idu Uruan, Uruan Local Government Area, following a tip-off.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Mr. Onyeka Orji, who confirmed the incident, said the rescue of Mrs Isemin by the police team was a proof of the state Command’s readiness to flush out criminals from the state.
