German evangelist, Reinhard Bonnke, retires

The renowned international Christian evangelist from Germany, Rev. Reinhard Bonnke, will be in Akure, the Ondo State capital in October with his successor, Rev. Daniel Kolenda, from the United States, for his last gospel crusade before his final retirement.

The Local Organising Chairman of the Great Akure Crusade, Bishop Joshua Ketiku, stated this on Monday during a press briefing.

He denied allegations that Christian bodies in the country were fond of inviting the German evangelist for crusades because of the huge sums allegedly being released by the preacher for such exercise.

But Ketiku said, “Bonnke did not have any multi-billion dollar ministry. The man of God rely heavily on support from Christian groups and his friends all over the world for his missionary campaigns.

“He is interested in preaching the gospel. That is why he decided to pick his successor from the US, just to show the people that he does not have any multibillion naira ministry.

“His ministry, Christ For All Nations, is in charge of disbursing funds and they are usually meticulous about this. They won’t just release money anyhow and they monitor how funds they released are utilised because they have gathered enough experience over the years,” he added.
